Hanapepe is located just a few minute drive from Waimea town. This small town has a very unique feel to it and we felt very welcome here as soon as we arrived. The cute authentic houses of Hanapepe were used in several films as well as the Disney film “Lilo and Stitch.” The houses are now homes to many beautiful galleries and shops in the town.
Friday Night Festival and Art Walk in Hanapepe
To celebrate the local artists, every given Friday Hanapepe hosts the Friday Night Festival and Art Walk. The festival was the prime reason why we decided to visit the town exactly on a Friday night. When we got there to see what it’s all about, we found the beautiful town covered in fairy lights and were greeted with soulful live music, arts and street food. It was magical!
The town was buzzing with the locals selling amazing street food, the artists sitting outside their galleries enjoying the evening breeze and the visitors like us, inhaling every single moment of this special night. It was like being on a movie set.
We loved sitting on the street with the locals and listening to the musicians while enjoying a very generously filled and extremely tasty burrito. Maybe it was the atmosphere or maybe we were hungry, but that was one bloody amazing burrito.
It was such a great way to spend a Friday night and we are so glad we decided to pop in and say hello. We had a blast and really recommend the Friday Night Festival in Hanapepe.
This barefoot guy stole my heart with the ‘Beautiful Kauai’ song. I’ll admit we still occasionally sing this tune whenever we think of Kauai.
Here’s what it sounds like:
